Want to join a growing team where we act with integrity and energy to deliver consistent success? Here in our Camberley office we are happy to announce we are recruiting for an EMEA Windows Server Operations Systems Administrator.

Our team handle the design, build and operate of midrange hosting, midrange database, and midrange storage & backup services across the EMEA region. The team support multiple lines of business and multiple technologies.

We are responsible for technical management of incidents, complex service requests and changes; the management of server security and configuration to adhere to policies, baselines and standards defined by the Global Information Security Team; and continual service improvement routines to reduce incidents and ensure systems stability.

You will support an estate of approx. 50,000 servers globally and provide Technical Management services within defined SLAs, acting upon critical issues from Major Incident Management, Application Support Teams and the Core Platform Operations team. You will serve as SME on the operational support of the EMEA Windows Server environment (through supporting the global environment), with a key role to play in the identification and management of risk and the delivery of our key strategic programs.

What will your main responsibilities involve?

  • Responsible for the technical management of the Windows Server
  • Deliver within agreed SLAs
  • Contribute to Problem Management processes to establish root cause of incidents and ensure assigned corrective actions are resolved within agreed timescales
  • Contribute to CTO Key Strategic Programs in region and the global team
  • Risk management and remediation, with focus on compliance and non-permitted technology remediation
  • Relationship management with application owners, LOBs, engineering, and other operations teams
  • See opportunities to simplify the environment and drive efficiencies through the use of automation
  • Work within a global team to drive consistency across the regions
  • Build and maintain relationships within technology and application support teams
  • Provide Core hours business support (7am - 7pm), as part of an operational rota
  • Some weekend working to support infrastructure and business changes and on-call

What skills and qualifications will you ideally possess?

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • ITIL Foundation
  • MCSA/MCSE/MCP
  • Experience in Operations in a large environment

Skills:
  • Experience of working within a regulated/corporate environment, supporting 2000+ server across multiple locations
  • Solid Windows 2003/2008/2012 core technical skills, including core performance monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Good ESX and VMWare skills
  • PowerShell and VB scripting experience
  • Microsoft Clustering knowledge and experience
  • Experience of Bladelogic toolset and vulnerability patching toolsets
  • MCSE/MCSA qualified
  • SAN attached storage configuration and troubleshooting (pref. EMC)
  • Customer service focused with good interpersonal and communications skills, able to handle business users as well as technical associates
  • A problem solver, capable of working across organizational boundaries to inspire change
  • Thorough knowledge of ITIL procedures and standard methodologies. ITIL Service Delivery qualification is helpful
