We're currently recruiting for an Asset Manager to join our Credit Risk team in the Dorking office. In this role your will be responsible for all aspects of Asset Management activity, including setting of Value Lines,(VL) Residual Values (RV), management of VL and RV matrices, provision of asset valuations, asset inspections and managing asset disposal at end of lease or as a result of repossession activity.

Leads Asset Management activity in the Healthcare business including:

  • Setting of Residual Values to support Operating Lease transactions across a range of medical assets in the Healthcare sector
  • Maintain the RV Matrix ensuring indicative values are fit for purpose
  • Be responsible for the sale process of all off lease assets and ensure income opportunities are maximised
  • Take ownership of larger removal projects (e.g. oncology and radiology equipment)
  • Set valuation parameters for EOL sale negotiations ensuring they are in line with market value
  • Work with the Healthcare team to proactively monitor expiring agreements

Carry out asset valuations for impairment and underwriting purposes

  • Provide current and future market values on assets in line with the Collateral and Valuation Policy
  • Engage with and manage instruction of panel valuation firms to value assets in certain circumstances
  • Carry out asset inspections to confirm operational status and capability of equipment
  • Put forward provision recommendations where there is a shortfall on asset value vs. RV
  • Provide asset commentary for new business purposes

Manage the process of disposal of repossessed assets

  • Maximise realisation on sale of repossessed assets by effectively managing the sales process
  • Advise collections team of return destination for assets following repossession action
  • Using sector knowledge, decide on the most effective disposal strategy for each particular asset
  • Develop and manage a network of remarketing agents and used equipment buyers both domestically and internationally
  • Work with internal departments to ensure a smooth sales process

Other Duties

  • Set RV positions on non NHS residual value based products, develop and maintain RV matrices in these sectors, maintain a suite of return condition documentation appropriate to the assets being leased
  • Continuously develop own knowledge of trends in the domestic and international new and used equipment market via auction attendance, dealer visits, trade show / exhibition visits, attending customer meetings etc. and sharing the information obtained with key stakeholders
  • Produce asset sector reports, annual RV exposure review papers and asset commentary where required
  • Line management of Assistant Asset Manager


Degree / similar qualification or equivalent experience gathered in a similar role


Experience gained within an Asset Management function within a Banking / Asset Finance environment


Experience of providing valuations for use in Banking / Asset Finance

Technical/Specialist Knowledge & Skills

  • Good knowledge of machinery and business assets
  • Knowledge of national and international economic and industry specific trends
  • Ability to assimilate complex information and present in a format which is accessible to other departments in the bank
  • Knowledge of the UK Asset Finance market
  • IT Literate, particularly MS Office
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills
