Scottish Widows is one the largest UK fund managers with c.£152 bn (30 June 2021) of customer funds under management / administration. The customer fund range includes regulated funds, life and pension funds, external fund links and the Workplace Savings Fund Platform has also introduced a bespoke blended fund service.

The Platform Investments team sits within the Scottish Widows Investment Team and are responsible for:

  • Working with the Senior Business Partner to action and deliver customer requests for new funds and fund changes received through Distribution and from our Strategic Partners, and providing technical guidance and support on potential investment solutions.
  • Oversight and instruction of fund launch and change activity across the customer fund range and engagement of Investment Operations.
  • The maintenance of the external fund manager relationships through supporting the appointed relationship managers; actioning corporate actions; maintaining legal and rebate agreements; arranging the setup of TA accounts; responding to DDQs and other requests.

We're looking for a Senior Manager, Platform Investments to lead our platform investment team, responsible for the effective delivery of fund change arising through our customer and external fund manager change channels. You'll be responsible for the accurate and timely execution of our fund refresh and corporate action processes as well as ensuring that the documentation to support our external fund manager relationships is appropriately maintained. You'll also be required to drive forward the continuous evolution of our operating model.

This is a varied and demanding role which will require someone with a strong customer focus, be able to demonstrate strong partner management across multiple functions, have excellent planning and organisational skills, an ability to manage a varied and demanding working profile whilst being able to adapt to a flexible agenda.



What will you be responsible for?

Our senior manager will work closely with the Senior Business Partner, and will be responsible for the line management of the team which covers Customer Change, Solutions and Change, and EFM Change respectively. You'll be responsible for

  • Providing support to the Senior Business Partner on activities arising through engagement of Distribution and our Strategic Partners.
  • The accurate and timely delivery of our 12 week fund launch cycle in which funds (both wraps and bespoke blends) are requested by our customers and are launched onto our Workplace Savings platform.
  • A robust change process / framework which supports the different types of fund change arising.
  • The accurate and timely execution of corporate actions with clearly defined customer treatment, engagement and communication strategies.
  • The maintenance / administration of our external fund manager relationships including legal contracts and due diligence questionnaires.
  • Strong partner management with multiple functions across the organisation including (but not limited to) Investment Operations, Investment Governance, Fund Factsheets and Investment Reporting, Group Transformation and the Customer Communication Office.






What are we looking for from our applicants?

We're looking for a Senior Manager who has a breadth of experience within a platform investment environment and experience of a Workplace Savings business. Our ideal Senior Manager will be experienced in fund change; either worked or interfaced into an investment operations team; and experienced working with external fund managers.



You'll have:

  • Previous experience and deep understanding of a workplace savings platform funds business.
  • Broad knowledge and experience of funds and investments.
  • Experience of working with technical and multi functional teams to deliver change.
  • Strong customer focus
  • Able to influence alignment and prioritisation up and across the organisation and have the ability to challenge constructively and support the business in overcoming obstacles.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, and experienced in building strong networks both across organisation and with external companies.
  • Experienced in developing efficient, effective and robust operational processes and frameworks.
  • Positive relationship and leadership skills.
  • Experience of building a great team environment that attracts and retains talent.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with an ability to adapt to a flexible agenda.

Location and Ways of Working

For this role, our preferred office location will be either Edinburgh or Cheltenham / Gloucester Office. As the team are split over two locations, on occasion, you'll be required to travel to each site.

This role is currently a remote role, but we'll be moving to a hybrid working model in due course, where there will be an expectation for you to work remotely and from the office.
