Technical Writer

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

  • Write end-user, administrator, installation, and integration documentation
  • Work closely with Product Management and Software Engineering staff to develop internal and external documentation
  • Create flowcharts and diagrams
  • Contributing to product look & feel
  • Collaborate with members of cross-functional teams

  • Supporting and developing tech comm team processes and tools
  • Opportunity to take ownership of writing projects
This role will give you the opportunity to occasionally travel to other Moody's offices in EMEA.

Part of Moody's Analytics group, the ERS - Insurance department builds and deploys fully integrated solutions made up of leading-edge stochastic models, software, and services that enable insurers to perform a wide range of capital and solvency calculation measurements plus reporting.


  • BA/BS, preferably in either a technical field (CS, Engineering, Finance, etc.) or a writing-related discipline
  • Commercial software technical writing experience
  • Excellent command of written English and fluent in spoken English
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Abliltiy to work in an international environment, cross-function, and with people cross-site
  • Ability to analyze documentation needs and complete projects in collaboration with other writers
  • Experience with online help
  • General IT skills - proficient in Microsoft office applications and tools
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle changing priorities
Skills that are a PLUS..
  • Background in software engineering
  • Background in finance
  • Understanding of Agile development processes/SCRUM
  • Experience with an XML authoring environment with DITA
  • Experience creating multimedia content
  • Experience with Atlassian's Confluence wiki
  • Experience with Perforce or other source control systems
  • Experience writing API documentation
  • Project Management experience
  • French language skills
  • Experience with Framemaker, oXygen, or other technical authoring tools
