Data Analytics Specialist I am looking for a Data Analytics Infrastructure specialist for a 12 Month contract for one of my clients, a leading financial organization based in Glasgow. We are seeking a skilled big data analytics infrastructure specialist to help maintain and improve our existing systems and platforms.

Role Profile

A successful applicant will contribute to a number of important initiatives including:

- Working with solution architects, operations, application developers, product management and fellow engineers globally to provide well-documented, monitored, stable and supportable plants

- Implementing automation tools that integrate with in-house developed configuration management frameworks and APIs

- Building and maintaining relationships with technical groups utilising the team's products, providing consultancy to them and helping to engineer products and solutions that meet their needs

- Communicating with internal clients and stakeholders to identify new business requirements and design well architected infrastructure solutions that meet their needs

- Recommending and testing changes to improve performance and stability at the configuration or code level

- Working as a top-level escalation point to perform complex troubleshoots, working with other infrastructure owners to resolve issues in the environment

Required skills

- Infrastructure automation and integration experience using Python and/or shell scripting

- A solid understanding of O/S and networking concepts: Linux/Unix system administration, HTTP, encryption, debugging and other related protocols

- Good understanding of software version control, deployment & build tools using devops SDLC practices (Git, Jenkins, Jira)

- Configuration Management, orchestration and deployment experience (preferably with Ansible)

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in a highly visible fast paced enterprise environment, with experience of logging and analytics (such as Splunk or ELK)

- Comfortable working with a Linux-based command line

- Excellent verbal & written communication skills

Desired Skills

- Prior experience deploying and managing large scale analytics platforms, preferably Splunk

- Splunk data engineering and configuration experience inc. writing and testing field extractions using regular expressions

- Log data transport technologies such as Kafka and syslog

- Splunk ES, MC and third party apps and dashboard creation

- Splunk certified administrator and/or architect
