Global Transaction Reporting (GTR) Technology Team serves the global transaction regulatory reporting requirements of the firm. These requirements span OTC (over the counter) derivatives, listed derivatives and cash products. The regulations covered are across America, Europe, and Asia and involve major initiatives. The exciting agenda over the next few years comprises of key work streams: Re-platforming & Remediation, Securities Financing Transaction Reporting (SFTR), Efficiency & Control and MIFID II (Day 2) Team profile:
The Global Transaction Reporting team are looking to recruit multiple Java Developers within the Glasgow Office. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team in Glasgow which is a key strategic location, you will be part of a wider global team, which also has presence in London, Mumbai, and New York.
The team in Glasgow currently comprises of 24 developers, Business Analyst and QA engineers. GTR is also co-located in Glasgow with the system users and their management team. Morgan Stanley moved to their purpose built new office 12 months ago, the central focus in the design was to maximise collaboration, by providing purpose-built spaces that encourage partnership and agile working environment. Role Profile:
You will work within a highly focused global development team who support critical firm functions such as Legal, Compliance and Operations. The division develops strategic solutions that support key business processes, including Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Position Keeping, Anti-Money Laundering and Trade Surveillance.
Beyond the delivery for the functional aspects of the systems and business flows, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to improving the technology platform and drive the system towards a more rapid and robust development and deployment model across the tech stack to ultimately help the business sustain high volume and revenue growth.
The regional and the global team will support you in getting up to speed with the relevant business areas and technical requirements, that you will need and ultimately help you grow your career within a technology group focused at helping the business stay market leaders for years to come. Key Responsibilities:
You will work primarily as a Java developer as part of a collaborative agile development team within your role you will be required to liaise directly with a variety of stakeholders throughout the firm.
The key requirement of the role is a strong development background along with strong problem solving skills. You will develop functionality in an iterative fashion, liaising with the business analysts, product owners and other developers within the scrum team. You will be part of a progressive team building systems that are critical to the business and solving problems to meet the ever changing regulatory environment.
This is a hands-on role with the expectation that you will be responsible for continuously improving the quality of our system and codebase including code reviews and refactoring where necessary. Qualifications: Required Skills:
- Experience of agile and scrum methodologies
- Core Java
- Unix shell scripting
- SQL and Relational Databases such as DB2
- Enterprise Architecture Patterns, GoF design
- Build & agile - Ant, Gradle/Maven, Sonar, Jenkins/Hudson, GIT
- Sound understanding of Object Oriented Analysis, Design and Programming
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Desired Skills:
-Integration technologies - MQ/Xml/SOAP/JSON/Protocol Buffers/Spring
