Legal Entity Controller Glasgow based 9 month contract role Large Investment Bank

Legal Entity Control (LEC)

The Legal Entity Control Group is responsible for the financial management and control of the Firm's legal entities. We are a well-established team in Glasgow that currently manages over 500 London and New York based entities. This team is responsible for preparing audited and unaudited statutory financial statements; management accounts; US Federal Reserve entity level reporting; and other reporting for senior management when requested. We are also responsible for ensuring that standard monthly and quarterly financial reporting controls and validations operate correctly.

Legal Entity Governance Office (LEGO)

The role will be in the Finance Division's EMEA Legal Entity Governance Office ("LEGO"). LEGO is responsible for managing and sustaining the legal entity governance framework and its ongoing enhancements to ensure appropriate risk-based coverage for the Firm's global legal entity population. LEGO's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Legal entity population management (new entity approval, rationalisation, legal entity closure)
  • Legal entity governance and supervision
  • Legal entity management reporting
  • Stakeholder management

This role will specifically focus on enhancing, expanding and adapting the existing legal entity governance framework for the non-consolidated legal entity population.

The non-consolidated population broadly consists of fund structure entities, strategic investment entities, special purpose vehicles and variable interest entities. These entities require detailed monitoring to support Federal Reserve regulatory reporting requirements as well as to support transactions impacting the structure of the Group.

Skills required:

  • Qualified accountant, CTA or equivalent qualification or relevant experience
  • 5-8 years of experience in an accounting firm, corporate finance or tax department
  • Ability and desire to create and improve processes to increase efficiencies and completeness in the TP documentation
  • Strong technical and analytical abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team to deliver high quality output to an agreed schedule, with confidence to question and challenge precedents and existing working practices
  • Strong skills in communicating with a global, diverse group of colleagues
  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment and to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • A high level of personal commitment, and self-motivation, coupled with an innovative, flexible, and team player attitude
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
