This is an exciting opportunity The Operational Risk and Compliance team within Group Treasury (1st Line of Defence (1LoD)) team is responsible for facilitating the accountabilities, oversight and monitoring of the operational risks and compliance obligations that the Group Treasury front-line teams generate within approved risk frameworks and policies. This team provides critical support to senior business management to ensure that key risks are identified, designed, monitored, tested and governed effectively.

~~The Risk Manager role reports through to the Head of Treasury Operational Risk & Compliance and will be a key player in the team that supports the front line risk accountabilities of the Group Treasury businesses. These include: Chief Investment Office, Balance Sheet & Regulatory Strategy, Treasury Legal, Structured & Funding Capital, Global Funding and Balance Sheet Planning and Treasury Analytics & Advice.
The Risk Manager will primarily support (but not limited to) the London and New York Treasury function and will:
• Assist the 1LoD team and business leadership to drive a risk culture in which operational risk awareness and considerations are built into day-to-day business decisions
• Develop and implement approaches for improving risk management practices within the 1st line
• Engage and establish a strong working relationship with the business (e.g. monthly risk meetings with the business)
• Provide the 1st line with pragmatic, outcome-focused risk advice and insights that influence decisions, optimise risk reward balance and assist it to achieve its objectives, within risk appetite and legal parameters (with assistance from specialist legal, compliance and AML specialists)
• Assist and support the business to effectively implement and embed operational risk management policies and processes
• Preparation, analysis and commentary for Treasury reporting and management dashboards
• Support to the business for compliance risk management and mitigation activities
• Support the investigation, assessment and remediation of incidents raised in JUNO by the Business.
• Active involvement in business change initiatives and ongoing Risk and Compliance projects
• Provide training to the business on Risk and Compliance activities
• Support and monitor control identification, documentation, assessment and remediation where required
• Work closely with the other key stakeholders in the end to end value chain including Finance, Operations, Compliance, Risk and Group Assurance to ensure operational and compliance risks are effectively managed in line with the 3 Lines of Defence framework
• Stay up to date with the regulatory shifts impacting the business to ensure the business is compliant with internal and external business requirements and regulations
To be successful in the role you will require the following
Knowledge and Experience
• A relevant bachelor or post graduate degree
• 3-5+ years operational risk / compliance management experience, preferably with some of your career spent within a Treasury or Financial Markets environment
• A passion for risk management, ongoing improvement, quality and efficiency
• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail critical
• Good working knowledge and understanding of domestic and offshore bank regulatory environment
• Self-starter and ability to work without high-levels of supervision
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels
• Shows resilience and tenacity to advocate new ways of doing things, “confidently speaking out” views and ideas
• Relevant industry qualifications (risk, compliance or business-related)
