Analyst - Business Acceptance

Linklaters LLP London, United Kingdom
Analyst - Business Acceptance
About us:
Linklaters is a global law firm, providing legal services in 20 countries and through 30 offices.

Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.

We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.

Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.

We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.

The Role:

We are looking for an Analyst - Business Acceptance to play a key role in protecting the firm by supporting the assessment and acceptance of new business across the global network. Working as part of the Legal & Risk function, you will undertake conflict checks, conduct client due diligence and risk assessments, and provide guidance on potential legal and reputational risks. This is a varied and challenging role offering excellent exposure, development opportunities, and the chance to work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the firm.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate and analyse conflict checks for new business using the firm's conflict management system, identifying and escalating potential legal and commercial conflicts where appropriate.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the Legal & Risk function to support the resolution of conflicts and ensure compliance with professional and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive client due diligence (CDD) and anti-money laundering (AML) checks on prospective clients, together with proportionate due diligence on counterparties where required.
  • Review and clear matter opening requests, ensuring all necessary information has been obtained and assessed prior to approval.
  • Establish, monitor and maintain information barriers to safeguard confidential client information and manage potential conflicts of interest.
  • Provide guidance to lawyers on client acceptance processes, client identification requirements, AML obligations, sanctions considerations and reputational risk matters.
  • Advise on the firm's client engagement terms, policies, procedures and best-practice standards to support effective risk management.
  • Contribute to Legal & Risk projects, process improvements and knowledge-sharing initiatives, helping to enhance the firm's risk and compliance framework.

What we're looking for
  • Previous experience within a legal, financial or professional services environment, ideally with exposure to conflicts, new business acceptance, risk management or regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex information and exercise sound judgement.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with a systematic approach to managing workloads and maintaining accuracy.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise competing demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build strong working relationships with lawyers, stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and provide practical guidance to stakeholders

This role can be based in our London offices, with a hybrid working model available.

Joining Team Linklaters will see you qualify for a range of benefits designed to reward the vital contribution you'll be making to our success. These include:
