Janus Henderson’s Multi Asset team manages portfolios suiting a range of risk appetites and incorporate third party funds and investment vehicles as well as direct holdings. They have a team approach with the relationship between risk and reward at the heart of the process.

Overview of the Role

  • To assist the Portfolio Managers (PMs) in providing fund research on existing holdings, generating new investment ideas and contributing to portfolio performance
  • Portfolio analysis covering risk analysis and performance analysis
  • To assist PMs in generating, maintaining and communicating the investment messages for the Multi-Asset Desk

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fund research and analysis – generalist active regional equity and active fixed income
  • Instrument selection covering passives and smart beta
  • Preparing trades to implement strategy changes and deal with any cash flows
  • Involvement in the team’s macro and portfolio positioning discussions and ultimately helping to generate new investment ideas
  • Portfolio analysis covering risk, performance
  • Analysis of competitor strategies
  • Help write investment commentaries and provide content for presentations in a timely manner
  • Assist with the preparation of pitch books
  • Assist with ad-hoc enquiries and the communication of investment strategy across both institutional and retail distribution channels

Technical Skills and Qualifications

  • Some experience in manager research in asset management, investment consultancy or similar
  • Ideally started CFA or completed
  • Experience of global financial markets and a variety of asset classes
  • Knowledge of fund management industry and active managers, preferably with existing relationships with external PM houses
  • Standard MS Office skills – excel, PowerPoint etc.

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written skills
  • Pro-active attitude with a desire to work in a team-based environment
  • Strong prioritisation and organisational skills

Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:

  • Annual Performance Appraisal
  • Completion of all assigned Compliance training
