The Role: S&P Global Sustainable1, the single source of essential sustainability intelligence, is seeking an experienced Analyst to join our Environmental Research & ESG Modelling team. The role provides an opportunity to work at the forefront of innovation in the field of sustainable finance. The successful candidate will help to shape S&P Global Sustainable1's cutting-edge suite of ESG analytics by developing environmental assessment and quantification methodologies that are required to deliver this essential intelligence to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify new ESG datasets and implement their inclusion into data collection.
  • Engage with stakeholders in the Sustainable1 group to align ESG metrics and data collection processes.
  • Support the development and implementation of new ESG models.
  • Provide helpdesk support on ESG data queries.
  • Develop and enhance environmental quantification and assessment methodologies.
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team across multiple locations to promote environmental research and data collection best-practice and ensure quality of deliverables.
Essential Requirements:
  • At least 3 years professional experience in sustainability research and/or ESG - with a solid understanding and experience of applying ESG reporting guidelines, and technical experience using and manipulating ESG datasets.
  • Strong research skills to be able to extract and synthesize key information from data-sets or text.
  • Intermediate or advanced technical skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Detail-orientated and numerically proficient, with a natural curiosity and an innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Self-motivated, organized, positive with a "can do" attitude. Has experience in planning and executing work assignments to tight deadlines, working independently and as part of a diverse international team.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including confidently presenting complex information to key stakeholders in ways that they can easily understand.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (additional languages will be looked upon favorably).
Preferred Experience: Education or professional experience in one or more of the following areas will be considered favorably:
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree or equivalent in environmental science, sustainability or similar.
  • Knowledge of S&P data sets which could be applicable to ESG, including utilities and fossil fuel extraction.
  • Strong awareness of ESG trends to build the next generation of best-in-class ESG data products.
  • Experience using ESG data collection software; and other data software packages, incl. Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI (or similar).
  • Experience working with business sector classification systems.
