Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning Analysis - Expenses

The role is currently being performed by a temporary member of staff and we would like this role to become permanent. The role is critical to the Finance function as it performs reporting for headcount to Tokyo and EMEA management. The role also encompasses a significant amount of re-engineering of Finance processes, building budget templates and reports and general ad-hoc queries from Head of Expenses, Head of FPMR, Head of Finance and the CFO.

Main Purpose of the Role:

The role is currently being performed by a temporary member of staff and we would like this role to become permanent. The role is critical to the Finance function as it performs reporting for headcount to Tokyo and EMEA management. The role also encompasses a significant amount of re-engineering of Finance processes, building budget templates and reports and general ad-hoc queries from Head of Expenses, Head of FPMR, Head of Finance and the CFO.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Partner with HR and Finance to provide accurate headcount reporting for the EMEA Bank and also London MUFG (Bank a& Securities)
  • Provide headcount analysis encompassing all aspects of actuals headcount, project reductions and forecast/budget headcount for the end of year
  • Responsible for analyzing variances to budget and prior year and reporting these diffeences to EMEA and Tokyo senior management
  • Responsible for building significant expense budget files to streamline the annual budget process
  • Responsible for re-engineering processes carried out by the rest of the team including revenues, balance sheet and business led reporting
  • Work with HR and Finance to review and confirm vacancy tracking lists
  • Ad-hoc queries from Finance senior management which is part of a typical FP&A function

 

In this role, the successful candidate will work across MUFG’s banking arm and securities business under a dual-hat arrangement. Under this arrangement, the employee will act and make decisions on behalf of both the bank and the securities business, subject to the same remit and level of authority, and irrespective of the entity which employs them.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

Essential

 

  • Accountancy qualification is required (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Ability to demonstrate a rounded commercial approach to reporting and controllership, with proven skills in chasing issues through many layers to discover root causes.
  • Be confident in maintaining relationships across a variety of stakeholders and business areas.
  • Ability to manage work load effectively, balancing multiple issues and priorities appropriately.
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines
  • Previous HR Finance or Finance background required
