Associate - UK & Ireland Corporate Coverage

The UK, Ireland & Nordic (UKIN) corporate coverage team consistently generates around 20% of EBD revenues. It is responsible for managing corporate relationships, generating cross sell in conjunction with Product Offices, and managing the credit portfolio and associated tasks.

UKIN is a growth market for MUFG underpinned by on-boarding activity. The revenue base is targeted to grow from EUR150m to EUR200m over the next 3 years. The number of clients is planned to increase from 137 to 170 over this period. There is a focus on better capital returns and more emphasis on capital lighter products. The UKIN team has been structured so as to provide industry focus within sub teams as part of an integrated country coverage group

Main Purpose of the Role :

This is a marketing support role with a significant amount of customer facing time particularly at Junior/Assistant  Treasurer level. The role involves daily interaction with internal product offices, risk and compliance departments. The role involves supporting relationship managers for a designated group of sophisticated corporate customers with a view to achieving high quality revenue growth and product cross sell from the portfolio. The role involves a very significant amount of internal documentation review, preparation and processing work. Problem solving and business opportunity tracking are key to the role including the timely delvery of credit and market line commitments. The client portfolio to be supported will have a bias towards UK and Irish industrial, transportation and infrastructure companies but will also encompass supporting customers in other sectors as the need arises.   

Key Responsibilities:
1.To provide transaction and marketing support in connection with the delivery of corporate and investment products provided by MUFG Group to meet pre-identified and new customer needs.
2.To prepare customer call reports following meetings and conference calls to ensure accurate record keeping and thorough follow up using the Salesforce system for opportunity monitoring and closing.
3.To be closely involved in transaction reporting fr marketing and credit monitoring purposes and to prepare timely memoranda for senior management in connection with major M&A situations or credit problems.
4.To be closely involved in the preparation and submission of credit applications from a business promotion point of view and to be responsible for all linked processes including liquidity aplications, compliance documentation/KYC and overall quality control.
5.To have a key role in the organization of internal Deal Screening materials with a focus on the MUFG business case and returns.  
6.To diligently update client records on MUFG Bank’s systems and liaise with middle and back office to ensure this is done.
7.To prepare marketing materials in conjunction with Product Offices for pitch books at customer meetings.
8.To have a significant involvement in Account Planning for the designated customer base to ensure that cross sell is effectively monitored and achieved. To track underperforming/low return names and report on them quarterly.
9.To assist with general projects as they arise and as may be directed by EBD senior management.  

Skills and Experience:

Functional / Technical Competencies:
•Strong numeracy and English written and verbal skills essential.   

Work Experience:
•Previous experience in a corporate banking marketing or credit environment would be highly beneficial.

Education / Qualifications:
•Degree level education essential.
•Accounting, business, economics or legal qualification would be beneficial.
