Business Control Manager As a Business Control Manager, you will work within a professional risk and control team as lead coverage for the Chief Investment Office.
You will partner with senior investment professionals that are well known in the industry for their investment knowledge and content, developing relationships with these key stakeholders to deliver a well risk controlled environment. You will work within Barclays Investment Solutions, the centre of excellence for investments that will serve all of Barclays Bank UK, as well as provide investment content to Barclays International.
Barclays Investment Solutions (BIS) is the investments service and product engine for distribution channels across Barclays UK and Barclays International.
BIS delivers a range of solutions across Investment Management, including Discretionary Portfolio Management, Investment Advisory, Direct Access and Execution Only services, plus additional financing and lifestyle solutions that closely match our clients' unique financial objectives, including Banking, Credit, Insurance and Trusts.
BIS offers a range of in-house and open architecture Investment Products, including Mutual and Hedge Funds, Structured Products and Private Assets.
As a Business Control Manager, your main responsibilities will involve:
Ensuring the Chief Investment Office functions are operating within the ERMF, BCP and ORMF. Escalating issues and actions that address identified financial and non-financial weaknesses to relevant senior management
Acting as the first point of contact for risk incidents and control failures, analysis of impact, incident approval and management of remedial and preventative actions to completion
Tracking anticipated reviews by regulators, Conformance (1LOD), Compliance Monitoring and Testing (2LOD), Internal Audit (3LOD) and external auditors
Compiling relevant monthly KRIs for senior management review and presentation at relevant Barclays Investment Solutions Limited and Chief Investment Office committees and forums
Active participation in business change initiatives and regulatory change projects representing Business Operational Control to ensure the risk and control agenda is embedded in designs and solutions
Working closely with senior management, business, risk and infrastructure partners to ensure a comprehensive, consistent approach to risk management
As a Business Control Manager, your skills and qualifications will include:
A sound understanding in control, audit, investment process and risk management as they relate to a financial services firm, preferably in investment management
A developed understanding of the key aspects of regulation impacting on Wealth Management (e.g. understanding of regulations including MiFID II, Structural Reform, EU Benchmark Regulation, GDPR etc.)
Proven communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal). Must be confident in regularly interacting with various levels of management across business areas
A dynamic, experienced and pragmatic approach. Able to resolve issues and influence change where required
The ability to work independently and with management direction to build and apply control standards to the Chief Investment Office teams
Degree educated, including IMC or other investment related qualification.
