Business Development, Relationship Management and Consultant Relations opportunity with a US Asset Manager focused on developing their presence across Europe.

The firm:

My client is an independent, privately owned investment management firm headquartered in New York with over $100 billion in assets under management  The firm focuses on active, fundamental, benchmark-agnostic investing, with a strong emphasis on downside protection. The firm’s investment capabilities include equity, fixed income, private credit and multi-asset strategies.

The role:

You will be instrumental in the growth of the London office, working closely with the current sales VP and sales support. You will be working directly with pension fund clients however a large part of the role will be strengthening relationships with consultants. 

What you will do:

  • Participate in the institutional business development effort in the Europe, Middle East, Africa & Australia (‘EMEAA’) region, focusing primarily on the UK (DB/DC pension funds, insurance companies etc.)
  • Work in collaboration with the global relationship management team to help manage existing client relationships as relationship manager, targeting best in class servicing and working on strengthening existing relationships
  • Help cover, in the context of a globally integrated and coordinated consultant relations group, select consultants in the region with the aim of achieving or maintaining positive views from research teams and increasing brand awareness across consulting firms
  • Help design client specific business plans and increase the depth of the business development effort
  • Impact the business positively for the short- and long-term (structural build-up of institutional presence outside the US)
  • Work collaboratively with the global institutional and international wealth management team based in the US (New York primarily), London and Munich (team of 25+)
  • Will understand and communicate investment strategies to prospects and clients
  • Will be a team player and will engage colleagues to make an impact outside the direct areas of responsibility and participate in the broader success of the firm
  • Potential opportunistic involvement in UK wealth management activities (fund distribution with third party distributors)
  • Participate in roadshows, events, conferences to strengthen the brand and visibility
  • Will understand the competitive landscape

The qualities you should have:

  • Native English speaking, a large amount of time will be spent covering English speaking relationships
  • Strong academic background in business, economics, finance or related field
  • Deep knowledge of the investment management industry and competitive landscape
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural business, with multi-cultural clients preferred
  • Readiness to be based in London and travel extensively
