Hays are recruiting for an experienced Risk Control specialist to join a leading Financial Services company in the City on a contract basis

The Business Risk and Control team is responsible for identifying, measuring, assessing, controlling, mitigating, monitoring, and reporting current and emerging risk exposures associated with EMEA activities.

  • Collaborate with and guide and counsel Risk Control partners on control design and implementation to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with and guide and counsel Risk Control and other business partners on strategic changes to processes and draft and agree procedure changes.
  • Maintains an awareness of the state of risk across assigned business(es) and industry; may provide subject matter expertise across specific functional areas and ensures that all business issues are proactively identified and addressed appropriately, escalating where necessary; manages relationships and fosters a team orientation with corporate, business heads, legal, audit and multiple US and non-US regulators; represents the business(es) in the external community, including with senior regulators, elected officials and trade groups.

  • Provides input into the business process risk ranking effort to determine whether a process is high, moderate or low ranking.
  • Identifies and documents risks, controls and self-assurance activities associated with local business processes.
  • Executes Risk and Control Self-Assessments to satisfy Enterprise and Regulatory requirements.
  • Delivers Line of Business Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), and Legal Entity (LE) Risk and Control Self-Assessments, which includes the aggregation of individual RCSA results.


    Skills/Experience Required:
  • Strong experience in risk (including compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management)
  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining effective risk management programs, especially risk controls, within a large complex financial services company.
  • Knowledge of global banking regulatory/supervisory frameworks.
  • Experience of RCSA
