About the Team
In conjunction with our delivery partners, J.P. Morgan provides a prepaid card programme, on behalf of the UK Government, for the purpose of disbursing welfare benefits and state pension payments to individuals within the UK. This is a retail banking product with approximately 1.5 million retail customers. The product serves a crucial role for the UK government and society. Accordingly, this is a high visibility programme within the firm and the role presents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual with the requisite experience. The service is delivered to the UK government in partnership with two key public and private sector clients. Due to the nature of the programme, the Product Management Team performs a truly multi-faceted role, responsible for product strategy and development as well as client relationship management, client service and oversight of our clients' delivery of this banking product.

About the Position
The Product Manager will have full responsibility for the delivery of the end-to-end service to our partner clients as well as the 1.5 million account holders. In this role, the Product Manager will lead the Product Management Team and work closely with management peers to coordinate the activities of dedicated Technology and Operations teams.

The role includes close collaboration with Compliance, Legal, Risk and Controls partners.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Product Management team, manage all aspects of the programme, including product development/ management, as well as managing client and vendor relationships and contracts
  • Responsible for day to day activities in running the business including compliance and regulatory initiatives. In this position, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the product and have direct ownership of the programme P&L.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and coordination of the product strategy, working closely with clients
  • Participate in the integration of systems and operations that interface with the product strategy
  • Strong focus on governance, controls and risk management including oversight of our outsourced partners' delivery of the service
  • Understand the risks inherent in the product and drive to reduce risk through ongoing review, development and adherence to robust procedures tailored to the programme
  • Drive robust adherence across all teams to consumer-focused principles such as Treating Customers Fairly
  • Structure and present reporting and updates to senior management
  • Prepare and present to our UK regulators (PRA and FCA) as required
Experience
  • Experience in managing important client relationships with senior stakeholders; deepening and strengthening such relationships in the correct strategic direction
  • Proven P&L experience including analysis of product financial data and maintaining robust P&L performance
  • Track record of both negotiating and managing complex contracts and delivering against specific contractual Service Level Agreements
  • Extensive experience in product management and development ensuring timely execution
  • Practical experience in project management with solid track record of success in developing and implementing large-scale initiatives
  • Able to demonstrate that you are a strategic thinker with the ability to motivate and drive tactical execution. Creative problem solver, capable of developing innovative and differentiated solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to effectively and efficiently coordinate engagement across varied partner functions and proven experience in leading teams
  • Superior presentation, communication and influencing skills

Desirable:
  • Expertise in international prepaid card or debit/benefits payment cards
  • Experience engaging with financial regulators and managing complex regulatory and compliance issues
  • Experience in managing public sector contracts and relationships
  • Experience in retail/ consumer banking
