This company is the number one leader in market data and analytics and has been providing real-time and historical pricing, indicative data, reporting, research, estimates, analytics, portfolio management tools, electronic trading and order management systems, news and electronic communications and beyond used by nearly every company in the world. The Role:
This is a role for a Strong C++ Developer to work on a next generation system for news information retrieval, working in a fast paced mission critical environment, the pressure is on to create the very best systems.
Scalability, latency and reliability are key engineering challenges to overcome alongside information retrieval and candidates must be willing to take ownership of projects from start to finish.
As a member of the Search team, your applications will make considerable use of search indexing and information retrieval technologies and will run in a distributed, multi-threaded environment. They will be developed using a service oriented architecture, written mostly in portable and modern C++. Required:
*Strong demonstrable expertise in information retrieval, search engine development and tuning article/website ranking in search results (especially searches on news articles).
*Strong demonstrable expertise in C/C++, including STL and Boost. Helpful:
*Experience with Lucene/Solr search frameworks is desirable, but no required.
*Ability to design and develop low latency, scalable and highly available applications. This includes writing multi-threaded code and distributed servers.
*Working knowledge of Unix (especially Linux) essential.
