Due to the internal progression on the team here in London, we are seeking to hire a Dealer within our Capital Markets division. Reporting to our Trading and Execution Manager, you will be part of a growing team, currently two, working across multi asset classes, including FX, rates, OTC swaps and equities.

AustralianSuper is the largest superannuation (pension) fund in Australia and one of the 25 largest pension funds globally. We invest the retirement savings of our 2.3 million plus members to help them achieve their best possible retirement outcome.

Your new team:

Working in a small team, locally in London, you will also work closely with a larger team in Australia, ultimately being responsible for managing the centralized dealing and execution function within AustralianSuper from our UK office.

The opportunity will lead to further development and let you obtain experience across all asset classes traded across the Fund.

To support the ongoing growth of the Fund, we established a permanent team in London. This enables the Fund to expand its global investment portfolio and build our international profile by having a permanent presence in Europe and hiring local specialists who will deepen our international relationships and support implementing local best practice based on local experience.

In a small scale office environment, you will be exposed to professionals across all of our Investment Asset classes, as well as other functions required to support them, giving you the chance to build broad relationships, gain a deeper understanding of how each of these areas operate and get involved in activities outside of your immediate role or team.

Our office is based at 2 Pancras Square in the Kings Cross which is part of the Kings Cross redevelopment project which is one of the core assets of our investment portfolio.

Your new role

As part of AustralianSuper's international growth plans, we are seeking a Dealer to join the team in London.

What makes this role unique is that you are an integral part of supporting all trading within the Capital Markets departments as we increase the complexity of the instruments and markets which are traded by the Fund.

Some of your key responsibilities in this role will be:

  • Execute and implement strategies across equities, foreign exchange, fixed income, and derivatives.
  • Assist in the rolling of Futures and FX positions on a monthly/quarterly basis
  • Be a team player in monitoring and minimizing trading costs within the best execution framework.
  • Ensure all trading is conducted within the laws/regulations of each country and/or exchange.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal policies and procedures.
  • Proactively maintain strong working relationships with Melbourne HQ and the ever-growing UK Investments and support teams.
  • Help drive information flow on marketplace intelligence & use your market experience to provide trade idea generation and updates to themes surrounding existing positions.
  • Assist in the design, implementation and testing of new trading platforms, and financial instruments where required.

You'll need:

You will be a dynamic individual, enjoy engaging with a range of stakeholders and thrive on being hands on with the work that you do.

  • Relevant degree and qualification in the industry (CFA and/or postgrad studies would be a plus)
  • Experienced in trading foreign exchange/fixed income, multi asset experience including cash equities and multi asset derivatives preferred by not essential.
  • Minimum 2-5 years exposure within an institutional trading space or similar
  • Experience in trade execution (large portfolio/multiple leg and large single security ideal) using various methods
  • Comfortable in adapting execution style to market conditions across asset classes, with detailed record keeping and analysis
  • Existing strong sell side relationships with the London/NY institutional marketplace.
  • Comfortable working within a small but driven team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite (in particular Excel), and/or Blackrock's Aladdin, Bloomberg, Trade Web, FXALL, BestX ideal but not essential
  • Meticulous attention to detail whilst possessing strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • As both London and NY hours are covered by the UK Dealing desk it would be an added bonus if you had experience working across different time zones. (Flexible working arrangements can be organized for the successful candidate)
