My client, a leading financial markets and commodities bank, is looking for Trade Support Analyst to provide Operational support to the Commodities Business.

Commodities Trade Support Analyst

The role sits within operations and is part of a dynamic Trade Support team that supports the Energy, Precious Metals and Base Metals desks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing internal trade reconciliations on Trade Date + 1 to identify missing and incorrectly booked internal trades.
  • Working with front office to resolve booking problems, trade breaks and trade amendments.
  • Reviewing and validating all non-STP trading activity originating from front office on Trade Date by validating system bookings.
  • Monitoring trades as they pass through the workflows in various front office systems and ensuring they are quickly moved to back-office queues to enable timely processing of downstream operational functions (trade instruction, confirmation, matching, cash management and settlement)
  • Performing and validating Market Operations (client transfers, rate fixings, terminations, assignments etc.)
  • Monitoring exceptions on inter-system automated trade feeds, i.e. FOBO reconciliations and ensuring that all exceptions are identified and resolved
  • Record completion of all intra- and end-of days checks via on-line check lists.
  • Contribute to the review and feasibility assessment of proposed new products and support manager by ensuring that all necessary processes and procedures are implemented within Trade Support to facilitate trading of these.
  • Ensuring that Regulatory obligations are met such as Transaction Reporting, Audit requests and exception management.
  • Providing support to "Change the Bank" teams by participating in the development of business requirements, test scenarios and execution of (user) testing schedules.
  • Constantly reviewing the control framework, making sure the right controls are in place and that Risk items are escalated appropriately to management and key business stakeholders.
  • Strong partnership with peers across Operations.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in Commodities, ideally within Trade Support or Confirmations/Settlements/ Reconciliations
  • Experience in Energy, Precious or Base Metals products
  • Investment banking experience is preferred, but not essential
  • Proven interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Knowledge of emerging markets would be ideal
  • Understanding of risk and control
