Job description
Job title: In-house Senior Employment Counsel
Contract Length: 9 months
Target Start Date: August / September 2026
Location: London / Hybrid working
Rate: Competitive, inside IR35

The employment law team in the UK Office of the General Counsel (currently 6 lawyers) is responsible for advising the firm on all employment and people related risk matters ensuring the provision of high quality, commercial, and responsive legal advice.
We are looking for a talented and experienced legal counsel with significant in-house experience to advise on the full range of contentious and non-contentious people related legal matters.
The Role
• Operate as part of a highly skilled team of employment lawyers who provide advice on a broad variety of people matters including: contractual agreements, TUPE, restructures and business shaping, disputes, grievances and ethical issues, disciplinary matters, internal policies and procedures, compensation and benefits, whistleblowing, equality and diversity initiatives, restrictive covenants, terminations. This includes advising on internal HR procedures and external claims (ACAS, and Employment Tribunal)
• Be highly collaborative, working closely with others on matters and projects to enable a seamless service to their internal stakeholders
• Partner with key stakeholders across the firm including HR and the wider Risk community
• Advise on the legal aspects of major people related projects/initiatives
• Proactively identify, address and manage employment law related risks.
You will have the following experience and skills:
• Experienced, UK qualified employment lawyer (ideally 8 years PQE minimum)
• Significant in-house experience in advisory, litigation and business shape matters
• Proactive with strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to build connections, inspiring trust and confidence quickly
• Ability to collaborate across the business with people and teams at all levels
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Mature and discreet, with proven ability to handle sensitive information and situations
• Demonstrates alignment with and behaviour consistent with our Shared Values
• Excellent drafting skills
• Flexible approach and ability to learn new areas quickly

As a means of managing tax, commercial and reputational risks, Deloitte prohibits the use of Associates through Personal Service Companies ('PSCs'). All Associates must contract under PAYE arrangements through a Deloitte approved 'Employment Company' (aka 'umbrella company.')
