Our start up client is looking for an experienced Python developer to work as part of their data science team based at their City based offices. Our client is tech start-up having secured a record level of seed funding (£2.5m+) in 2016 giving it a long-term and strong foundation to deliver significant value to it's intended market.

Python Developer - The Role

  • You will work closely with the technical engineering team reporting jointly into the Chief Technology Officer and the Chief Data Officer. As the Python Developer, you will be responsible for building stable, production ready, performant products which will underpin our clients primary business proposition.
  • As part of their data science team, you can expect to be working on projects with a diverse toolbox. They are already working with data cleansing; lexical analysis; NLP; semantic analysis; classification and machine learning. Training and mentorship in all these technologies will be provided where required by the client.
  • You will primarily be productionising the Python output from their data scientists creating the highest quality technical solutions.

Current Tech Stack

• Python 2.7 and Python 3.5+
• Numpy, Pandas, Sklearn, Pickle, Celery
• PostreSQL with PostGIS

Python Developer - Qualifactions 

• At least 4 years’ core Python experience
• At least 5 years’ experience in production coding
• TDD, linted, SOLID code
• Experience with Git source control
• Database abstraction (e.g. ORM) and querying
• Experience with agile methodologies
• Preference for libraries over frameworks
• Experience at working with unstructured and semi-structured data

It might also be beneficial to have
• ETL experience
• Docker
• Scraping libraries (Beautiful Soup, Scrapy, etc)
