Aon is currently recruiting a Senior DC Investment Consultant to join our growing team in the UK. Your primary responsibilities will be to continue to build our consulting business, whilst leading and developing Aon’s relationship with a portfolio of clients.

The UK pensions landscape is evolving at a rapid pace. Economic challenges, legislative change, an ageing population and asset volatility pose a wide variety of risks and challenges to pension schemes. Trustees and scheme sponsors are faced with a range of decisions on difficult topics from managing risk to improving member engagement, setting an investment strategy to managing DC plans.

The FCA's Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) applies to Aon from December 2019 and this role is subject to the relevant requirements of the Regime. The primary aim of SM&CR is to drive individual accountability for all roles within the Financial Services Sector. Aon must ensure those in senior roles, with the potential to cause significant harm to customers and the business of the firm, are deemed to be fit and proper at all times and also to ensure everyone working in the sector adheres to a set of Conduct Rules and are held to account where they do not meet the right standards of behaviour.

Your impact as a Senior DC Investment Consultant

• Understanding and focus on good member outcomes and working with clients to achieve this goal
• Leading relationships with clients with over £1bn DC assets, with accountability for developing those relationships, for example through introducing additional services
• Directing and presenting on large projects, e.g. investment strategy reviews, manager selection, provider review exercises and asset transitions
• Taking ultimate responsibility for quality of technical work delivered to clients
• Helping to further build the investment expertise within the wider DC team, through training and mentoring of more junior colleagues as necessary
• Driving new business, through maintaining and developing a pipeline of prospects
• This is a senior position within the DC Team and you will be expected to contribute to the thought leadership and future strategy of the team
• The DC team is represented in several offices around the UK, and it is expected that your role would involve working with teams and advising clients across all of them. 

You bring knowledge & expertise

• Track record in leading client relationships
• Previous DC investment consulting experience
• FCA approved status
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and comfortable advising Trustee Boards and those in senior company roles at a strategic level
• Able to encourage and develop other colleagues, and work well within diverse teams
• Experience advising clients on some or all:
  • DC investment strategy
  • DC products and investment platforms
  • Asset transitions
  • Fund manager recommendations
  • Ongoing monitoring
  • DC scheme governance
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements and changes in legislation
• The range of skills required are quite diverse and we will consider candidates that are stronger in specific areas although the individual needs a sound understanding of DC and investment issues.
