Your new company
This Private Equity firm has doubled its assets under management over the past five years and plans to invest heavily in building their data function. Building a world-class data capability is one of the three critical objectives at board level.
Their employees describe the culture as low ego, smart and driven, which filters down from their senior leadership team.
With the significant billions in assets, they manage the Head of Data will get the backing he needs, and this is an opportunity to join as one of the first hires in the data team.
The Head of Data is a leader in the space giving various talks at Big Data & AI World, Microsoft Ignite and more.
Your new role
Here, you'll work in a newly built data team with a significant role in shaping the technical direction.
You'll help take them from an on-prem data landscape to a cloud-based one with full backing from the board.
Azure though is the likely cloud provider due to the existing architecture within the business. Databricks, Hadoop and various DevOps tools are being discussed.
Despite being in finance, they don't want to compete with other finance shops when it comes to data, but instead firms at the cutting edge within the data space.
What you'll need to succeed
You're a Data Engineer who has built resilient cloud solutions.
In terms of specific skills, due to the architecture still being shaped, we are fairly agnostic.
The hiring manager is pragmatic and understands smart people can pick up new technologies quickly.
Some technologies you may already work with could be Python, Scala, Spark, Hadoop, SQL, AWS, GCP or Azure.
We certainly don't need any finance experience - they can teach you that.
