Job Description Summary
Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) recognises that data is a significant business differentiator for financial services companies. Across the banking industry Data Management is receiving increased attention and focus and LBG is looking to drive a more sophisticated approach to how it manages data to support transformation and digitisation of the business, and the ability to optimise interactions with customers. Data Management includes a range of disciplines that lead to trusted, well understood data, including Data Strategy & Innovation, Data Governance, Data Quality Management, Metadata Management.

The Data Governance Manager role with the Chief Data Office is responsible for driving and embedding the right environment from a control but also cultural perspective. As data governance SME in this role, you'll be a key member of the Chief Data Office Data Governance team responsible for evaluating, reviewing and embedding data policies, risk and control processes and monitoring these. You will support Group data governance forums and working groups and provide Data Governance advice across your business area to support the embedding of Data Management.
Data Governance is one of the key disciplines that LBG is looking to embed. It is about driving and embedding the right environment from a control but also cultural perspective.

An experienced professional ideally with a background in Data or Governance, it would be desirable if you also had relevant experience in Data Governance and an awareness of other Data Management disciplines, including Data Quality, Data Architecture and Metadata.
You'll also need to have an extensive track record of building strong collaborative relationships at all levels, simplifying complexity, and managing risk. And you must also have proven ability of managing stakeholders, including having the ability to interact and influence data stakeholders across the Group.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in Data Governance discipline of Data Management
  • Experience in Financial Services or large Corporate environments
  • Experience of working in dynamic, cross functional and multi discipline teams
  • Can translate between business and technical impacts and requirements
  • Ability work with colleagues with a range of backgrounds, including business, technical and risk
  • Experience of delivering data management solutions
  • Experience of working with data management technology solutions


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Acts as a source of expertise for data governance.
  • Responsible for leading on the Group Data Management Policy
    • Policy setting and refresh
    • Evaluate, review, investigate, challenge and set policies and processes to evolve the Data Management Policy
    • Policy effectiveness reviews and associated reporting
    • Policy interlocks with other group policies
    • Identifies, escalates and mitigates emerging risks to the Policy as appropriate
  • Supports Group Data Governance forums and manages processes for ensuring appropriate escalation and reporting of data issues across a business area.
  • Define processes for identifying critical data elements within the Group, oversee Divisional deployment of those processes.
  • Support and oversee Divisions in their interpretation and application of data management standards consistently across all business areas and change programmes.
  • Manage Data Policy adoption working with Business Unit Control Functions to oversee risk and control testing in Divisions.
  • Support data communities within the Group providing data governance consultancy to support data management embedding.
  • Support Divisions through training and technical support to ensure there is effective management, control of governance over data domains across the Group.
  • Oversee processes for monitoring and measuring data across the Group and manage the aggregation of Divisional reports to present a Group position.
  • Attend relevant Group and Divisional bodies to represent data governance.
  • Build and maintain a cross functional internal network to optimise business results within data governance.
  • Embed a culture of data across the Group through appropriate communication channels.


OTHER CAPABILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE ROLE
  • Comprehensive understanding of data governance and how data can support the overall service to customers and delivery of business objectives
  • Awareness of the Group business, strategic priorities and data management practices
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and management of data related risks.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with your peers to achieve organisational change
  • Proven experience of managing inputs and outputs from senior committees. Demonstrating ability to create and maintain minutes, actions plans in line with secretary duties.
  • Knowledge of data management disciplines - Data Quality, Data Architecture, Metadata management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to effectively communicate ideas, proposals, issues and implications
  • Demonstrated ability to analysis and assess processes to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Is emotionally resilient in difficult situations and able to drive collaboration and alignment in an environment of multiple priorities
