The Data, Databases & Reporting team (DDR), a sub team within the Core Development, Reporting & Data Group is seeking an experienced Database & Data Warehouse Developer to join the firm’s Technology department.

The role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with business users and technical managers to develop and refine reporting and analytics requirements
  • Working with the various groups to identify and resolve data issues through configuration of data cleansing and migration to new systems
  • Managing the database aspects of the reporting and analytics platforms to ensure that reporting jobs are successfully run and analytics data aligns to timeliness / completeness requirements
  • Ensure each database and data warehouse is tuned for optimal performance
  • Design, maintain, enhance ETL process and schedules for all aspects of the firm’s positions, trades and pricing information
  • Design data models and define both logical and physical models
  • Administer all requirements and design various functional specifications for data
  • Prepare ad hoc queries reports for both technical and business teams
  • Design and implement various unit tests on system and prepare test data
  • Performing different kinds of testing including Functionality, Compatibility, Integration, Regression, Performance, Stress, Error Paths of database services
  • Working with other teams to deliver and operate large scale, distributed services in the cloud
  • Mentoring other offshore engineers, defining our technical culture, and help build a fast-growing team

 

Experience Required:

  • Good working knowledge of Aurora AWS, Windows and UNIX
  • Strong SQL coding and tuning experience
  • Experience troubleshooting application and system performance and complex, production software issues
  • Experience executing and interpreting results from database performance benchmarks
  • Ability to lead projects and drive them to completion
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
  • Possess excellent communication skills and experience working with external customers (both technical and non-technical audiences)
  • Advanced SQL coding, tuning and query optimization
  • Knowledge of database internals as it relates to query and system performance and tuning
  • Understanding of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
  • Experience designing and leading database performance benchmarks
  • Hands-on experience in scripting test-automation and execution framework
  • Hands-on experience in open source databases (MySQL, Postgres)
  • Hands-on experience in commercial databases (Oracle, MS SQL)
  • Hands-on experience in Aurora AWS including RDS solutions for Aurora
  • Hands-on experience with a Reporting solution, preferably Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience in diagnosing and trouble-shooting complex, production software
  • Ability to drive tasks to completion and take ownership of projects
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
  • Possess excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities, and proven design skills
  • A degree level qualification and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • At least 2 years’ experience administering a reporting database and reporting solution (Ex. Tableau)
  • At least five years’ experience working on database technology used for business intelligence and/or analytic
  • At least 5 years’ experience working with structured query language including transact MySQL, MS SQL or Oracle SQL
