My client is looking for an experienced Risk Technology Delivery Manager to take a senior role within the Technology team, responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality software solutions across the Fund. You will work closely with key business stakeholders facing off to the Chief Risk Officer, to own the portfolio & roadmap for Risk Technology.

A key aspect of this role will be to manage and empower a development team working in a dynamic & fast paced environment, to deliver against key strategic Risk initiatives in close engagement with Risk Managers across multiple investment units.

All teams within Technology follow an Agile methodology throughout the Software Development Lifecycle, and the Risk Technology Delivery Manager will be responsible for ensuring their team are continually following appropriate methods and adhering to best practices, whilst also proposing improvements across the department.

Key Skills:

  • Exceptional Technology Leader with track record of running team of 10+, with proven team leading skills – able to coach and mentor team members to a high standard
  • Strong Financial Services business knowledge in particular focused on risk within a multi-asset management environment, preferably buy-side
  • In-depth Agile experience, including knowledge of TDD and BDD, with a DevOps understanding of environment & release mgmt. and benefits of continuous integration
  • Exceptional relationship management skills focussing on both day to day delivery as well as building out longer term strategies to support a dynamic fast paced business unit.
  • Be seen as trusted technology partner with business product owners building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide appropriate level reporting to senior management and interested business partners
  • Proactively manage risks and issues to ensure delivery plans are not impacted
  • Manage change control in partnership with ITO, Infrastructure and Change Management to ensure high quality deliveries and minimise production issues.
  • Identify opportunities for optimisation of business & technology processes and drive through agreed improvements

Ideal Technical experience:

  • Strong delivery focused approach with strong OO programming experience (C# - preference or Java)
  • Previous working experience to a high level in C# (to v6.0) and .NET (to v4.6)
  • Good working knowledge of query writing, schema design and performance tuning in MS SQL Server.
  • A working understanding of risk concepts (VaR, stress testing, greeks etc...)
  • Good experience working with multiple asset classes (including derivatives), their key characteristics and required static and market data for modelling
  • Experience with component-oriented server side engineering, including WCF & REST APIs
  • A proponent of collaborative software engineering techniques and methods: agile development, continuous integration, code review or pairing, unit testing, refactoring and related approaches.
  • Architectural appreciation – able to define good architectural principles & practices and embedding them within a delivery lifecycle

Beneficial Skills:

  • Experience with automated testing tools such as xUnit, MS Test, NUnit, Moq, Rhino Mocks, and SpecFlow etc
  • Good experience of BI/Data-warehousing systems incl reporting & visualisation tools such as Tableau
  • Experience of Python 2.7+ in a Linux environment with financial / data libraries (e.g. NumPy, Pandas)
  • Experience using RiskMetrics via web services.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg terminals, services and data model
  • Experience of WPF user interface development, ideally using MVVM.
  • Experience with .Net Core/Standard and container-based development and orchestration
