POSITION

The Position

The role is responsible for the management of employee compensation and benefit policies, programmes and practices throughout EMEA.  As a key subject matter expert in compensation and benefits this role provides consultation and advice to Human Resources business partners, business leaders, managers and employees.  Reporting to the EMEA Regional Director Compensation and Benefits, this position will work closely with the EMEA HR team and global compensation and benefits teams in Boston to support regional initiatives and activities. 

Responsibilities

In particular, the role will have the following responsibilities:

Compensation:

  • Point of contact for HR and managers throughout the region for compensation related matters.
  • Advise on compensation levels for new hire offers and conduct supporting analysis.
  • Work as part of the Global Compensation team to design and manage base pay and corporate bonus programmes and the officership nomination program (annual promotions cycle).
  • Support the delivery of the annual compensation review cycle within EMEA.
  • Ensure compensation structures and levels remain competitive to allow the firm to attract and retain employees.  Undertake market competitive analysis for the region. Help the business to understand any issues and prioritise compensation spend.
  • Support the Regional Director in preparing content for and presenting to regional Compensation Committees.
  • Undertake projects as required for the region or different business areas.  These will be varied but could include areas such as conducting equal pay analysis, developing compensation structures for new roles/business areas.
  • Keep abreast of compensation regulatory requirements.  Work with others to develop procedures and manage compensation reporting.
  • Ensure policies are current with regard to trends, practices and costs.
  • Participate in industry network forums, keep abreast of trends.  Share findings and insights internally. 


Benefits:
  • Manage the development and administration of benefits programmes in the region.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of benefit plans, from overall administration to annual renewal activity, including working with external consultants and vendors.
  • Provide a high standard of advice, guidance and support to the HR team and/or senior business managers and employees with regard to benefit matters.
  • Recommend and implement changes to current practices based on legislative and market trends affecting benefits in the region to ensure the firm remains compliant and competitive.
  • Identify and implement efficient process improvements.
  • Responsible for employee benefit communications.  Includes updating employee handbooks and intranet content, review existing communications and driving improvements.
  • Partner with vendors and deliver benefit information sessions to employees in local offices.


Qualifications

The successful candidate is likely to have:
  • Relevant experience working in a field of Compensation and Benefits.
  • Exceptional analytical and numeracy skills; comfortable working with large amounts of data and communicating data findings.
  • Experience of EMEA benefit plan development, design, compliance, management, and administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of compensation/reward practices.
  • Customer service orientation with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations - ability to serve multiple customers (employees, managers, HR).
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required - to interface with all levels of the organisation and translate data findings into clear and concise documents and presentations.
  • Strong cross-cultural awareness, sensitivity, and high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to exercise problem solving skills and independent judgement using analytical and consulting skills.
  • Solid project management skills - e.g., develop project plans, scope and ensure execution and delivery.
  • Highly detailed driven with emphasis on accuracy, coupled with the ability to see the broader picture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to comfortably interact with people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to use discretion and deal effectively with uncertainty, change and ambiguity.
  • A roll-your-sleeves up /hands-on attitude. Comfortable working in a broad role and undertaking a variety of activities, ranging from spreadsheet analysis to presenting to senior leaders. 
  • Proactive approach.  Willingness to be creative, make recommendations and exercise initiative.
  • Previous experience within financial services is strongly desirable.
  • Graduate with strong academics.
