Majedie AM is a boutique, long only asset manager with around £6.3bn in AUM. Formed in 2002 with a focus on UK investments, it now offers UK, global, international and US portfolios for clients around the world. Majedie’s Responsible Capitalism platform is a key component of its investment philosophy and approach. It has an advanced approach to integrating ESG considerations into investment decisions through materiality assessments and undertakes its own proxy voting, engagement and reporting on positive outcomes from engagement. Majedie plans to enhance this platform, going forward.

As such, Majedie is seeking an ESG Researcher to build out its Responsible Capitalism team. This ESG Researcher role would, among other tasks, respond to client questionnaires, complete ESG related surveys and assist with proxy voting. The successful candidate would also gain experience engaging with companies, contributing to investment team discussions, and gaining experience as ESG evolves across the finance and asset management industry. This role would provide valuable fundamental understanding and experience within the ESG space while also offering potential for career expansion within the team.

The successful candidate will need to communicate very well, both in spoken and written English, be able to work effectively with people at multiple levels of business, be a team player but also be comfortable with working individually (from home part of the week) and have a strong desire to develop their career in the ESG space. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have some relevant experience with ESG in either a financial or sector-specific application.   

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A BA, BSc, or MA
  • Excellent skills in communication (spoken and written) and organisation
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • An ability to complete projects on time
  • An ability to work on a team and also work individually; a self-starter
  • A wilingess to undertake a variety of tasks, some of which are more administrative and some of which are more stretching in terms of report writing and analysis
  • A basic understanding of / experience with ESG
  • Some experience with leadership (work experience, university, sports, etc)
  • A strong desire to develop skills and career across all areas of ESG
  • Experience producing carbon and ESG data sets, reports, and updates
  • A keen desire to promote net zero and corporate transparency on ESG metrics
