We are a small independent equity research firm, focused entirely on identifying significant mispricings and producing exceptional research on those opportunities. Our analysts combine detailed valuation work, forensic accounting and investigative work to dig deeper than anyone else in the market. We were established as an alternative to the traditional sell-side model - we are fiercely independent and we do not engage in superficial “maintenance research” or “coverage”.

We are looking for outstanding analysts and investors who are “second-level thinkers”, able to develop insights that have been missed by others.  Candidates should be capable of working in an environment where expectations are high and the feedback process is intense.  Analysts have a high degree of autonomy in identifying ideas and will spend extended periods of time engaged in focused “deep work”, with the aim of producing five in-depth initiation reports each year.  Our machine intelligence system, Dragonfly, supports our analysis by sifting through annual reports, identifying anomalies and accounting red flags.  Our mission is to deliver the best, differentiated single stock research in the market, both on the long and short side.

Our client base consists mostly of hedge funds and institutions in Europe and the US who subscribe to us based on our ability to identify alpha within the mid and small cap universe.

We are looking for analysts who:

  • can assess a company like a long-term owner of the business and identify key drivers.
  • can formulate a differentiated thesis and identify what the market or consensus is missing
  • be able to construct financial models and DCFs (preferably familiar with the McKinsey framework)
  • have a strong understanding of accounting (preferably some experience of forensic accounting).
  • have an understanding of behavioural finance.
  • can produce unique insights from publicly available documents and filings.
  • can logically connect non-financial insights to financial impacts.
  • can assess a company like a long-term owner of the business and identify key drivers.
  • can identify corporate governance and management issues and how they impact shareholder value.
  • can communicate a complex thesis in a concise, conclusion-oriented manner.
  • possess intellectual curiosity and a desire to continue learning
  • are self-starters and can work independently

Experience

  • ACA or CFA qualification or equivalent preferred
