Location: London

Reporting to: Financial Controller

Our client:

Our client is a global Private Equity firm specialising in long-term investments in a number of key sectors. With headquarters in London, offices in 6 countries, 300 staff, and over £20 billion in AUM they are a major player in the Private Equity space.

Role Responsibilities:

The role of the Financial Accountant will report directly into the Financial Controller, providing support in delivering and overseeing the allocated programme of work and responsibilities relating to the UK accounting function as follows:

  • Timely preparation of annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements, this includes preparing audit files, liaising with auditors to resolve queries and production of accounts in CaseWare.
  • Manage quarter-end close for a UK legal entity, including journal entries, review of transactions for completeness and accuracy, reconciliation of significant balance sheet accounts and calculation of advisory fees.
  • Business partner for four global cost centres, this entails co-ordination, preparation and presentation of quarterly consolidated profit and loss account, commentaries in respect of material variances and supplementary information at senior management meetings.
  • Assisting with the preparation of consolidated budgets for five years in accordance with group assumptions, providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends and commentaries.
  • Assist with timely and accurate preparation and filing of monthly VAT return for the group.
  • Assist FD and FC with the implementation of new finance systems to provide improved accuracy and quality of information captured and reported to senior management in a reduced timescale.
  • Establish and maintain effective governance and financial control processes including documenting and maintaining appropriate finance policies and procedures.
  • Ad hoc support during quarter-end and project related work.

Candidate requirements:

  • Newly or recently qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with relevant experience in a corporate accounting role within Financial Services, preferably in Private Equity or Investment Management sector OR looking for first move from practice with experience of working with regulated businesses.
  • Possess a high level of technical accounting knowledge and skills, ideal candidate will have a good understanding of UK GAAP (FRS 102).
  • Strong analytical skills and high regard for attention to detail.
  • Excellent academic background.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken with ability to communicate effectively at all level.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (advance level).
  • Also, desired but not essential, good working knowledge of CaseWare.
