The rates research team is responsible for providing strategic recommendations in global rates markets to SG's clients, as well as providing a key support function to the FIC business (both sales and trading).

Description of the Business Line or Department
The rates research team is responsible for providing strategic recommendations in global rates markets to SG's clients, as well as providing a key support function to the FIC business (both sales and trading). All GRS research is published via www.sgmarkets.com . The team is geographically split between London / Paris / New York / Bangalore.
The successful candidate will be London or Paris based, reporting to the key contacts above.
Summary Of The Key Purposes Of The Role
This is an excellent opportunity to obtain a good exposure to markets / market analysis and eventually play a significant role to develop a career in rates strategy research.
The 6-11 month role could lead to an offer a permanent role within SG to interns who perform well within the team, subject to business needs.
The candidate will provide support to a team of 6 researchers based in London and Paris, both through daily responsibilities in the day-to-day running of the research activity and through project based work.
Summary of Responsibilities
The candidate's key responsibilities will include
- extensive analytical work for the desk
- developing an understanding of rates markets and of the business
- day-to-day support of the team in the production of daily research communications
- data maintenance and data analysis where required by the team
- project-based work which will involve data analysis and presentation of main findings
- general support in day-to-day running of the team's activities, focusing on improving the team's productivity.
Level of Autonomy and Authority
Candidates will report to senior researcher within the team (who will supervise his/her work), and work directly with most other members of the team.
The successful candidate will be London based, reporting to Jorge Garayo
Interest in macroeconomic developments and their impact on capital markets
The candidate should develop an interest on bond markets and fixed income products and macro economic developments
He/she should demonstrate a superior level of knowledge and understanding of data analysis tools and techniques.
Excellent knowledge of Excel is a must, as well as some soft coding ability (Vba) and willingness to learn. More advanced coding is a plus though not required (e.g. Python/machine learning).
Good communication skills are essential, with excellent verbal and written communication in English.
Knowledge of fixed income products will be an advantage.
Graduated in a career degree with subjects that require analysis and problem solving, with a decent exposure to statistics and mathematics.
English is mandatory and any other European language is desirable
