Front-end Developer (Javascript)

Summary

Not your standard algo trading company, this firm prides itself on its flat hierarchy, avoiding bureaucracy whilst rewarding people on merit and excellence. Specialists within electronic market-making in FX, equity, fixed income and commodity markets, they have one of the best names in the industry.

They are looking for a pragmatic front-end developer to join a small, motivated team responsible for developing and improving web-based GUI tools, a mixture of external and internal webapps. While they are framework-agnostic in terms of web tools development - many simpler GUIs are written in vanilla Javascript/Typescript - they're keen to hear from candidates familiar with one or more common web frameworks to increase the team's knowledge.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with your team lead to improve internal tooling libraries and add framework features. You will also help other teams and end-users across the business using the libraries to manage their own GUIs, while listening to feedback that you could use to make improvements.

Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of plain Javascript to handle & display real-time events
  • Sound understanding of at least one common JS framework, e.g. React, Angular, and have used it on a project in production
  • Previous experience in a multi-disciplinary team, including liaising with back-end or full-stack developers on the design of an API
  • Familiarity with some JS testing
  • Financial experience is not required

Desirable
  • Practical experience developing internal tools and receiving user feedback on them
  • Experience of Canvas API, D3 or similar

Benefits
  • Significant compensation package - you are making a direct impact on the PnL
  • Collaborative and friendly environment with highly engaged colleagues
  • Culture of trust, innovation and scientific rigour
  • Generous benefits package, including health cover, pension and office facilities such as a gym, fully stocked kitchens and games room
