Front Office Risk and Control – Asset Management

 

My client, a leading Asset Management firm, are looking for a Front Office Risk and Controls specialist to join on a permanent basis. You will lead the Investment Management contribution to the evolution of the firm’s front office control framework, and lead / install a governance structure within Investment Management to ensure business risks are managed in a disciplined manner in line with the prevailing risk appetite. 

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Business lead for planning, designing and implementing an overall risk management process/framework for the Investment Management function;
  • Business lead for risk assessment/evaluation, which involves analysing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the (non-investment) risks affecting the business; including contribution to the Risk and Controls Self-Assessment process in respect of the Front Office together with Operational Risk and ensure that it is properly maintained and updated.
  • Business lead for establishing and quantifying the organisation's 'risk appetite' for prevailing (non investment) risks within Investment Management
  • Contribute to the ownership, development and maintenance of a Front Office risk and controls MI dashboard. Business lead for preparing for regulatory visits / audits as required
  • Business lead for identifying (and where appropriate, providing) support, education and training needs to staff to build risk awareness within the organisation.
  • Assist in all front office controls-related projects on an ongoing basis.

 

Key requirements:

  • Experience of working in a Business Risk or Operational Risk capacity within an Investment Management or financial services institution
  • Experience of defining and implementing front office controls / frameworks
  • Able to synthesise multiple sources of data into a clear and coherent control framework
  • Ability to form relationships with fund managers across the IM business.
  • Able to form effective working relationships with infrastructure areas.
  • Ability to influence fund managers and other senior stakeholders.
