Opportunity
We are looking for a Functional Reporting Specialist to join the Functional Reporting team to provide financial support to Transformation and Operations business partners, own the reporting and business partnering for Central functions and take ownership of group wide cost allocations. This role sits in the Financial Planning & Analysis team and is primarily responsible for the ongoing analysis and reporting, of costs and allocation drivers for distinct parts of the M&G business.

Key Responsibilities
On a day to day basis you would be required to:
* Provide support to the Transformation and Operations Finance Business partners providing analysis, MI reporting and helping them resolve queries as required.
* Produce financial papers for presentation at Committee meetings including insightful commentary demonstrating an understanding of an evolving Operations Department.
* Provide Business partnering support for M&G's central functions areas (eg.HR, Legal, Finance) taking ownership for budgeting & forecasting process and business support as required by Department heads..
* Work closely with Central Finance to understand the cost base and analyse these against comparatives and appropriate benchmarks.
* Attend PruCap, PPMG, UKIO quarterly meetings, which includes producing MI papers and cost recharges
* Produce well understood functional cost reporting with appropriate detail and cost centre reporting as required
* Work with the FSC team to develop reporting tools and automation to deliver continuous improvement to outputs
* Take an active role in developing a simple and efficient cost driver calculation methodology to allocate M&G's cost base used for management reporting. This includes drivers at multiple organisational levels -product, geography and channel distribution level.
* In the long term, use understanding built up of the cost allocation model to create reporting to analyse M&G's cost on a product, geography and channel distribution basis to aid senior management decision making.
* Support the Executive Office Team with regular reporting in a standardised format and with ad hoc analysis.
* Take ownership for reporting and budgeting of the Corporate BU and South Africa Associate.
* Build an understanding of the areas supported and ensure that information sharing and best practice is embedded across the team.
* Play an active role in the annual business planning process and also work to embed the rolling forecast in the decision making process. This should ensure that any financial metrics from business cases for new products or offices are included in business plans.

What we are looking for
We are looking for you to be a qualified accountant with post - qualification experience and ideally from an asset management background.

It is very important for you to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to liaise effectively with personnel at all levels plus build strong relationships across the business. Having very strong analytical and problem solving skills with a good track record of process improvement is essential for this role. You must be able to question and understand complex financial data and demonstrate experience in presenting analysis using an appropriate format.

Being organised, able to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines is key for this role together with strong spreadsheet, organisation and financial modelling skills. As well as having the ability to operate at a detailed bigger picture level; you must be highly numerate, logical and capable of lateral thinking.

Please note that experience with Hyperion and SUN general ledger systems is desirable.
