Our finance team is dynamic, forward-looking, and highly regarded in Whitehall. The team provides a broad range of financial support, such as transactions and year-end accounts, to the Home Office and all of its agencies.


Our role puts us at the heart of transformation as we develop a leaner, more effective Home Office, ready to meet the challenges of the future and keep the UK safe and secure.


We are currently looking for a Head of Corporate Financial Planning. The key focus of the role will be to ensure the Home Office’s resources are allocated appropriately, balancing need, changing priorities and ministerial interests, and securing the department’s future funding requirements. The upcoming Spending Review makes this a particularly exciting time to join the Financial Planning Unit, and this role will be central to developing a robust and well-evidenced SR bid and negotiating with HM Treasury in 2019. In preparation for this work you will lead on developing the department’s strategic financial plan, working with senior internal and external stakeholders. This will require strong stakeholder management skills, strategic decision making, robust financial analysis and the ability to confidently present to the Home Office Executive Committee, Permanent Secretary and ministers.


Key Responsibilities


Establish rolling medium-term financial plans and efficiency plans for individual business areas and the department as a whole.
Lead the development, maintenance and validation of forecasting and scenario planning models over the medium term. 
Develop and present regular financial information to key decision-making boards within the Department.  Lead planning for key fiscal events, including Budgets and Autumn Statements.
Play a central role in Home Office’s preparations for the next Spending Review, including being a key interlocutor with HMT in the lead up to, and during, SR negotiations.
Provide line management to 5 direct reports and provide leadership for a team consisting of around 12 full time equivalent staff.
