The Business
We're looking for a Head of Compliance Advisory, Corporate and Structured Finance to join us in London

  • You'll be providing compliance support to the biggest corporate bank in the UK which delivers banking, lending and structured finance facilities for major UK and European clients
  • You'll provide oversight of our Western European Corporate Banking franchise covering eight EU countries requiring a small amount of travel each month
  • We're looking for a Compliance leader with experience of working in the corporate banking and structured finance market, including technical experience in MiFID

What you'll do

The Risk & Conduct function seeks to mitigate the risk of legal or regulatory sanctions, material financial loss and reputational harm. You'll have the responsibility of building and maintaining a strong relationship with the business, providing timely, quality compliance advice and guidance to enable the business to meet its strategic and tactical objectives.

You'll be:
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the Large Corporate team (including the Western European franchise), the Structured Finance team, the Capital Management team and other Compliance Advisory Heads
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for these teams, providing timely, quality strategic conduct and compliance advice and guidance through a focus on customer outcomes, driving the compliance agenda in these areas
  • Providing expert input on regulatory policy and conduct risk strategy as well as implementation of the conduct framework, including management information, reporting, governance, training and culture in relation to the core areas of responsibility
  • Working closely with the relevant Front Office teams and other Advisory Teams as required to provide timely, quality regulatory advice and guidance to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and support the transition to proactive and pre-emptive conduct risk mitigation
  • Helping to drive and enhance a proactive risk management capability and culture to understand, oversee and critically assess and challenge our business models and strategy from a customer outcomes perspective

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you'll need strong experience in a managerial or supervisory role with responsibility for the development and leadership of your colleagues.

We're also looking for you to demonstrate:
  • A robust understanding of regulatory frameworks, specifically including experience of MiFID in relation to Corporate Issuers
  • The ability to manage and influence senior and business stakeholders across all areas of the business
  • A track record of achievement and delivery, expert knowledge and significant business or operational experience
  • Significant experience of the regulatory environment, with demonstrable, relevant experience in a commercial lending environment
  • Knowledge and experience of providing customer and commercially focused regulatory and technical support and advice to Executives
  • A deep understanding of conduct and compliance risk management principles
  • An ability to horizon scan and generate innovative solutions
