Totally unique opportunity. Chance to define and create a value-add Investment Writing / Communications proposition at this hugely exciting, innovative and growing boutique investment manager. Stand alone role (at least for the short term). Focus will be on adding true value through the writing and creation of both thought leadership pieces as well as the writing of more generic commentary / comms, ensuring consistency of message, compliance with regulation and brand, and, as importantly centralising and owning all investment communications thereby increasing the productivity of the firm as a whole.

The Opportunity:

  • My client is a market leading boutique London based asset manager that is going through a very exciting time in its business cycle, and, there is significant future growth anticipated
  • Following the appointment of a new key member of the C Suite, this hiring of this position has been authorised in order to provide a more robust and value-add infrastructure to the sales and investment teams
  • The purpose of the role is to lead the production of all Investment / Marketing Communications across the business, in support of the wholesale client channels (financial institutions & asset allocators)
  • You will be developing content to support the distribution and marketing strategy, with a view on setting and ensuring consistency of message. This will ensure the intellectual capital that resides within the investment teams is promoted effectively
  • Content produced will be very varied and will evolve over time. It will range from investment commentaries and updates, market comments, placed articles in the press, thought leadership pieces, across both digital and print
  • In many cases the core literature suite will be written from scratch and the business will be looking for you to provide ideas on where you can truly add value. This is a brand new role, so, the business will be looking to you to shape the function and provide ideas of where you can enhance the output of the firm’s communications proposition
  • You will need to ensure full regulatory compliance of all investment writing content, processes and procedures
  • Working with marketing and external PR agencies to ensure that core messages are channelled through the press to create positive, consistent, innovative and extensive news coverage of my client’s propositions and capabilities amongst their target audiences
  • Taking a hands-on approach, you will be involved in a wide range of initiatives, some more exciting than others, so, a flexible, accommodating and collaborative mind set is a prerequisite

Your Experience:

  • You will have a strong and relevant record of academic achievement, combined with perhaps completion of some relevant industry qualifications i.e. IMC; CAIA; CFA
  • In terms of experience, you will have had experience working for a reputable asset manager, ideally with a strong equity investment focus. A journalistic background is welcome, as long as you have demonstrable experience of working for an asset manager most recently
  • You will be a knowledgeable investment writer who will be responsible for planning, developing and delivering content with a high level of autonomy and ensuring that new innovations are leveraged by the firm to maximise the effectiveness and value all communications against their target market
  • Be able to write for a range of audiences, most notably financial institutions / wholesale and institutional
  • Have the proven ability to work closely and credibly with both investment and sales teams (as well as various other senior stakeholders) in order to ensure that content pipeline is aligned with business requirements
