Working for a global asset manager you will cover a list of developed market GBP and EUR Financial, Bank and REIT credits, providing research and recommendations consistent with the research and signaling process. This function works closely with other members from the Global Credit team, the Portfolio Managers and Dealing teams. The position will also involve presenting the credit process to external parties, taking part in credit research and strategy sessions, and provide written commentary on a regular, timely basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Credit Research – Undertake analysis, for a broad list of developed market financial companies, focusing on company fundamentals, ESG risks, and structural/technical risks that can impact credit quality, and in turn credit pricing. The analyst is required to maintain their research the research platform, according to research standards. Recommendations and Position Management – Based on their research outcomes, the analyst will provide relative value recommendations (position signals) for all companies covered by the analyst. Changes in views/conclusions will impact portfolio positions, so the analyst will work closely with PM’s to help shape portfolios. The candidate needs to be able to evaluate (and act on) new issuance opportunities in a timely manner.

 

  • Communication - Analysts are expected to provide primary recommendations in the form of written research documents, stored on the internal research platform, supported by less formal communications, as needed. Analysts are also frequently involved in client meetings, new business presentations, and other external sessions, for which communication and presentation skills are required.

 

  • Collaboration – Analysts are expected to work in a team environment, sharing knowledge with other analysts and the wider team, and using constructive challenge to refine views and positions. Analysts are always encouraged to seek improvement in their work, including suggestions for process improvement.

Required Capabilities

  • Experience - Minimum of seven years of experience in investment grade credit analysis. Candidate’s background needs to be in credit (a history of covering European banks and financial companies) with relevant relative value credit experience. A strong fundamental analysis background to include financial analysis, evaluation of industry fundamentals, management/strategy assessment, ESG risks, ability to question company management, among others.
  • Solid grasp of fundamental analysis.
  • Ability to assess the relative value of IG bond investment opportunities through the evaluation of risk-reward factors, legal structure, capital structure, bond covenants, technical/fundamental drivers, and the value of other issuers within a certain industry.
  • Broad and diverse knowledge of the European banking sector is needed, financials/REIT experience a plus.
  • Able to articulate their opinions on a credit, and any related investment recommendation of that credit, to PMs of different products by written and oral means.
  • Monitoring their coverage set and position signals on an ongoing basis which necessitates timely updates (via written and/or oral means) to team members across the globe.
