We are currently recruiting for an Interim Risk Manager to cover maternity leave; this will be on 12 to 15 months fixed term contract. This role will give broad exposure to risk management topics across the business with a focus on operational and business risks, including in particular independent risk oversight for Allianz Global Investors' Portfolio Management, Trading, Products and Distribution areas. You will have the opportunity to directly engage with various business stakeholders in Europe and support pan-European as well as global risk activities and projects.

Role & responsibilities

Working in close collaboration with risk management colleagues in Europe and across the globe and with different Allianz Global Investors’ entities, you will:
• Ensure effective application of the company’s risk management framework and tools for the Portfolio Management, Trading, Investment Compliance, Products and Distribution functions throughout Europe, including the review of operational incidents, oversight of external service relationships and performance of risk reviews
• Maintain close interaction with business functions and actively support forward-looking risk identification
• Provide advice and risk assessments to senior management helping to mitigate identified risks
• Perform independent risk oversight and assessments for European / global projects and change initiatives
• Maintain and continuously develop tailor-made risk reporting and support the implementation and enhancement of Allianz Global Investors' risk and governance tool (RSA Archer)

Key relationships within Communications
• Working experience either in the asset management industry -preferably in the field of operational risk management- as an external auditor or in various functions within front office operations
• Master’s degree in Finance or Economics
• Sound understanding of processes in the asset management business as well as of financial products and markets
• Familiarity with European fund industry regulation
• Excellent analytical skills combined with a high motivation to take initiative and develop targeted solutions
• Strong interpersonal skills and the talent to build positive relationships, internally and externally, in an international business environment
• Ability to work autonomously and across divisions, project management experience is considered an asset
• Fluency in both written and spoken English, knowledge of any other European language highly welcome
• Excellent MS Office skills, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
