Department Profile
The EMEA Legal and Compliance Department is charged with day-to-day oversight and coordination of the Firm’s compliance with core regulatory requirements covering all businesses including Institutional Sales and Trading (fixed income, commodities, equities), Investment Banking, Research Investment Management and Private Wealth Management Business across the EMEA region.

Primary Responsibilities
As Data Protection Office Co-ordinator located in London you will assist the International Data Protection Officer in relation to the following activities:

- Interactions between Morgan Stanley and Data Protection Authorities for data protection related issues (e.g., reporting of the Personal Data breaches);
- Informing most senior management forum (Board) as well as other senior governance forums of the relevant controller / processor entities about data protection regulations and state of data protection controls within the organization;
- Determining the adequacy of data protection policies / procedures / controls, Privacy Impact Assessment framework, Privacy Impact Assessments, data protection training programs of the controller / processor entities;
- Overseeing the monitoring & testing to the data protection policies & procedures;
- Reviewing the inventory of Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) processing activities across the organization (including statistics on exercise of privacy rights by clients, staff and other 3rd parties); and
- Collating information provided from multiple sources (e.g., Data Protection Compliance, IT, Operational Risk Department, Business Units / Functional Areas etc.) and synthesizing various inputs in presentable format.



Qualifications:


Skills required (essential)
- Strong quantitative analysis skills (Excel, Access etc.)
- Strong written communication skills (ability to prepare PowerPoint presentations)
- Strong verbal communication skills (ability to work cross-functionally and articulate a complex subject)
- Previous experience in relation to data protection or closely related matters (examples: Data Protection control design, IT system reviews for data disposal, information management consulting etc.)
- Sound knowledge of the applicable data protection law (in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation)
- Experience in working in international project teams
- Ability to transfer legal requirements into pragmatic solutions
- Ideally background in banking or financial institutions
- Proactive, motivated and solution oriented
