The position will involve building out a new set of tools, libraries and services (mainly in JavaScript and TypeScript) to support teams building HTML5-based web applications. This covers both enhancing existing web applications within the bank as well as those being migrated off of legacy technologies.

Key objectives critical to success:

The successful candidate will be strongly self-motivated, personable, and able to work with minimal supervision (although mentoring and assistance is always available). The team is small therefore every member is expected to manage their workload effectively, plan and deliver their own tasks without micro-management and to balance time spent on development activities with the necessary attention to support tasks.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

-Strong web development skills are essential

-Background with JavaScript, CSS, Node.js, webpack, and at least one of React or Vue.js.

-Familiarity with git, GitLab, and Sonatype Nexus is desirable, as is an understanding of REST API design.

-Working knowledge and background with some or all of the following technologies: TypeScript, Electron, OpenFin.

-Background working on delivering desktop applications would also be beneficial

-Familiar both with unit testing JavaScript code and with writing web-driver style tests that interact with a UI.

-A solid understanding of the SDLC is needed in this role.

-The ability to gather, guide, and interpret requirements

-All team members are expected to work effectively within the team, liaising closely with other development and support teams

-Good interpersonal and communication skills are paramount.

-Occasionally, team members may be asked to demonstrate applications, so some experience in this aspect is helpful or a willingness to learn.
