Company Overview: The position is for a senior experienced developer to work on a global development project within the Global Markets IT, Data Services division of Nomura. The successful candidate will join a team based in London working on a global project to develop new global cross-asset market data platform as part of a broad strategic reengineering programme.

Team Overview:

The Market Data Services is global team geographically spread across London, New York and Shanghai. The team is responsible for delivering a strategic market data system across Global Markets. The team is responsible for mandatory and strategic project delivery for Nomura's Strategic Market Data service offering, performing requirements gathering, design, development, testing, project management and governance. The team also provides a 3rd level escalation service to the support team.

Role / Principal Accountabilities:

The candidate will be part of a global development team with responsibility for designing, building and deploying a global market data platform (UMD). This will involve the following:

  • Development of business oriented functionality
  • System testing and deployment
  • System support and maintenance
  • Working with Front and Middle office users to gather requirements and provide support

Technical Skills Required:

  • Strong Java development
  • Distributed Messaging technology e.g. Solace/TIBCO/RV/JMS
  • Linux/Unix experience
  • Full software lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance)
  • Sybase / Database development
  • Messaging (MQ / JMS / TIBCO)
  • XML, Spring

General Skills Requird

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good team mentality and communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Fixed Income trading business (Derivatives, Bonds, Futures, FX)
  • Experience of front office trading system development and support in various asset classes


  • Distributed data caching technologies (Gemfire, Coherence, MapR/HBase)
  • .NET / C# development
  • SCRUM/Agile/DevOps development methodology and use of Maven, SVN/Git, Jira
