The LNG Market Risk Lead role sits within the gpti Commodity Risk team and is a key control position within the Commodity Risk and Trading and Shipping Finance and Risk organization. You will be accountable for providing deep business understanding on risk measurement and control through development and maintenance of robust risk measurement models, analysis of market conditions and trading positions, and interpretation and improvement of risk and control policies and procedures.

You will hold the primary interface into the trading team and will need to balance independence with a business enabling partnership. This position requires a deep understanding of the activities within Commodity Risk Analytics in order to meet the team’s core accountability of delivering independent analysis and reporting.

Key Accountabilities

You will, under the direct supervision of the LNG Commodity Risk Manager:

• Own and drive modernization of MVaR and Stress analysis and reporting
• Improve and develop market risk measurement models and methodologies
• Deliver timely and insightful reporting and analytics that provide insight into market risks of T&S’s business activities.
• Provide market risk input into new business activity
• Provide constructive challenge to trading activity and ensure it is aligned to intended trading strategy.

Essential Education

• A University degree in a quantitative subject area is a requirement. Advanced degree in finance, economics, mathematics, science, engineering, etc. is highly desirable.
• Professional qualification in financial analysis or risk management is also desirable.

Essential Experience And Job Requirements

You should have the ability to operate within a sophisticated and dynamic trading business with the capacity to understand and communicate trading strategies and risks related to them.

We want you to have the ability to develop and understand valuation and risk models for a wide range of derivatives and be familiar with the basic principles of market risk measurement and understand the alternative methods available to calculate value-at-risk, define appropriate risk factors, account for non- linear instruments.

To be a success in this role you should understand risk management frameworks in a trading environment including how risk limits should be set and controlled. You will also have a good understand of the fundamentals of energy trading.

Desirable Criteria And Qualifications

• Solid understanding of global LNG market drivers, physical assets, and fundamentals
• Proven experience in LNG or Gas Europe Product Control, Market Risk, or Trading roles
