4+ PQE Corporate Lawyer sought for manager-level role in Big 4 Accounting Firm's London-based Employment Legal Services Team

Summary of the role

The legal division of one of the Big 4 accountancy firm provide legal advisory services combined with technology-driven and multi-disciplinary solutions. The firm's legal division has a global network comprising over 2700 lawyers in 80+ jurisdictions.

The Employment Legal Services Team comprises 11 lawyers who regularly work with a wide cross-section of the firm's client-facing business. The team undertakes a variety of work with a focus on workforce pay compliance (including national minimum wage, holiday pay, employment status, pay gap reporting), workforce change (people aspects of restructurings including redundancies and TUPE transfers, changes to terms and conditions and transactional support) as well as general HR and ER advisory work.

Candidate qualities and experience
  • Commercially minded and keen to become a more rounded business adviser focused on delivering a great service to clients
  • Driven and proactive team player who enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines
  • Keen to assist with the development of junior team members
  • Relationship builder who can spot and develop new opportunities and client relationships both within the KPMG network and externally
  • High level of technical knowledge of UK employment law
  • Intellectually curious, open-minded and analytical people, with an eye for detail and pride in their work
  • Team player with an entrepreneurial spirit and be prepared to work in a different way to lawyers in traditional law firms
  • Motivated to continue developing his/her legal skills and engage in new areas of work
  • Deliver robust and appropriate legal advice and exercise sound judgement
  • Strong project management skills are a must
  • Experience of working with demanding clients across a wide spectrum of size and activities
  • Demonstrate sound client relationship and business development skills and a keenness to develop these skills further
  • Building the existing business of the team and will build peer to peer relationships
  • Promote the team's work through participating in team and firm events, giving internal and external presentations and producing expert articles for publications

Candidate qualifications
  • Employment lawyer with a good range of experience
  • 4+ years' PQE
  • High level of technical knowledge with regards to the employment law of England and Wales
  • Familiarity with contracts and policies, due diligence reporting and broader transactional support, redundancy/reorganisation/TUPE transfers, employment status and holiday pay would be helpful
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on esoteric areas (such as national minimum wage and pay gap reporting)
