London - Big Data Engineer
Large trading firm is looking for a Big Data Engineer for their London office. At this firm you'll 'own' your part of the stack. You'll be a hands-on lead over major projects involving a mix of technologies. You will also have to develop automation in order to minimize operational toil, in accordance to SRE principles. Additionally, you'll be part of a schedule where you'll be 'on-call' for certain database technologies.
Requirements - Extensive experience in engineering - primarily using an open source database to solve complex business problems with cutting-edge tech
- Comfort using automation languages, i.e Python and Go, as well as being proficient with SQL
- Comfort using Linux shell in order to troubleshoot systems
Desirable Skills - ETL pipeline experience
- Kafka, Python, pandas
- Experience in the trading industry - more so if it was within post-trade processing systems
- Distributed database systems and petabyte-scale data-warehouse experience
