My client is a large investment bank in London, looking for an analyst to join their Middle Office Team that supports the Rates Structured and Vanilla Options Businesses in London. The team is the first line of control ensuring that trades are delivered correctly on T0 into back office systems.
The team works closely with sales and trading, market risk and infrastructure partners (finance, IT and post Trade Services) to ensure that all trades are captured accurately and in a timely manner, and all regulatory commitments are met and also specialises in providing technical assistance on a variety of programmes and initiatives (regulatory build and execution, regulatory controls, Basel III, Leveraged balance Sheet etc.)
The role involves supporting key functionalities of the team with a primary focus will be on maintaining the control environment while supporting the trading desks.

The role is one which will give the selected candidate great exposure to the business on a 360 level. You will be dealing with issues downstream, working closely with the quant desk, market risk, product control group and other ops teams. This is an area where strong people have been given opportunities to move into a quant role or front office, so there are fantastic career opportunities available for the right people.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Run end of day processes including T0 P&L and New & amends reports for desks across multiple regions.
 EOD batch management including the monitoring and resolution of errors.
 Work with Finance, Risk and back office teams to investigate the root cause of risk, P&L or cash breaks and find/create short and long-term solutions.
 Manage the daily high risk swaption expiry process across all of ROST and maintain controls to ensure no expiries or settlements are missed.
 Assist in the analysis and resolution of reconciliation breaks identified by control teams
 Deliver the highest standard of service to internal and external clients against agreed SLAs.
 Ability to identify, escalate and report risks and issues.
 Identifying rationalisation opportunities to ensure an efficient delivery of service by yourself and your colleagues.
 Track record of successfully delivering an excellent level of service as part of a team under challenging circumstances.
 Ability to work alongside a diverse global workforce through rapid change and / in periods of uncertainty
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage key relationships across functions, the global matrix and external stakeholders.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

My client is ideally looking for a minimum of two years' middle office experience and specifically someone with a structured products / structured rates background.
If this person doesn't have structured rates and are on the flow side this experience will be considered, but they will need to demonstrate some technical understanding of the structured side in the interview, to show they have the aptitude to learn.

VBA / SQL skills would also be beneficial but aren't essential.
