The Green Investment Group (GIG) Energy Solutions team is responsible for originating and executing distributed energy projects with industrial and commercial private sector companies, public entities and third-party intermediaries. GIG Energy Solutions was launched in November 2017 to address the market opportunity created by the transition to a distributed energy system. Typical projects cover a range of technologies from onsite generation to upgrades of energy consuming assets. The unique proposition of Energy Solutions lies in the provision of a holistic financing and technical solutions to clients alongside a network of technical partners. The team operates across all sectors and is mainly targeting UK based FTSE 350 corporate clients with the ability to offer a global solution. The team is seeking to invest >£100-200m by 2019. The candidate will have a focus on the Energy Solutions business as a priority and will have the potential to gain further exposure to other businesses within GIG

Responsibilities

• The role will be based in the London office (with interaction with teams in the Edinburgh office) and will encompass the following key activities:
• Assist in the origination of Energy Solutions opportunities from companies and channel partners
• Develop deep relationships with supply chain partners
• Lead the execution of Energy Solutions opportunities throughout the transaction process including investment committee papers, modelling, financial analysis, legal negotiation and documentation, financial close, portfolio hand-off
• Contribute to team reporting
• Assist in managing deal team personnel and workload
• Take the lead for Energy Solutions team initiatives
• Attend relevant industry events to enhance the reputation of GIG Energy Solutions

Essential experience

• A relevant university degree (minimum 2.1 or above), preferably with an MBA.
• 5-10 years relevant work experience gained in investment banking, investment management, project finance, corporate finance or similar backgrounds
• Must have had some exposure to the UK Renewables or Clean Energy market or Industry Sector deal experience
• Strong origination and execution transaction track record in the corporate sector
• Experience in managing deal teams
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Strong debt and/or equity documentation experience
• Financial modelling experience
• Economic valuation and returns calculation experience
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
• A self-motivated, committed work ethic and a drive for perfection as well as keen attention to detail
• Excellent problem solving and analytic ability
• Ability to perform under deadline pressure
• Strong data management and research skills
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Desirable experience

• Prior experience in project origination and development with a developer of corporate distributed energy projects
• Some technical background (e.g. engineering consultant, energy solutions sales)
• The candidate will have a focus on the Energy Solutions business as a priority but will have the potential to get exposure to other parts of the GIG business
• Experience or exposure towards the low carbon transport sector is considered beneficial
