A fantastic opportunity for a recently qualified accountant to join an established and highly successful Capital Markets business. This role will be highly visible across the Senior Management with considerable involvement with both CEO and COO. Would ideally suit someone looking for a broad accounting role within a successful and intellectually stimulating environment.

This will be a key role in the department working and reporting into the Financial Controller, with significant exposure to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer.

Your primary responsibilities will include preparing management and statutory accounts, as well as FCA returns, for the two regulated subsidiaries that make up the division.  You will be expected to take ownership of the month-end process, including calculation of accruals and prepayments, posting of journals and preparation of variance analysis, using the Sage 200 accounting system. 

In addition to your cyclical reporting responsibilities, you will prepare regular and ad-hoc management information for the division, involving a high degree of data analysis using Microsoft excel.  You will also assist with the chasing of debtors, operation of the purchase ledger and making of payments.

You will need to work with a good degree of independence, diligence and accuracy, and should always strive to drive efficiencies within the role while maintaining the highest professional standards

Responsibilities

Management accounting

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for the Capital Markets division
  • Maintain clean ledgers for the two operating subsidiaries and the divisional holding company
  • Post journals in the Sage 200 accounting system
  • Calculate monthly accruals and prepayments
  • Maintain fixed asset ledgers and fully reconciled control accounts
  • Reconcile intercompany balances
  • Prepare monthly power points for Senior Management review and interpretation

Statutory and regulatory reporting

  • Prepare annual statutory accounts for the two operating subsidiaries
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly FCA returns for the two regulated subsidiary companies (ie. CoREP)
  • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules, and provision of timely responses to audit queries to achieve interim and year end reporting timetables

Other responsibilities

  • Prepare regular and ad hoc MI for the Capital Markets division
  • Respond to ad hoc queries
  • Assist with smooth operation of accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Process payments and chase debtors
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in the finance function
  • Partner will all departments (i.e. Compliance, Legal, Trading, Settlements) of the business to better improve Finance reporting and management information
  • Continued review of suppliers to ensure mitigation of costs

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Strong academic record
  • ACA or ACCA qualified, first-time passes preferred
  • Experience of preparing month end management accounts in a finance role in industry
  • Strong written and numerical skills
  • High-level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Adaptable and willing to get stuck in to whatever needs doing

Desirable

  • Financial services experience
  • Knowledge of FCA reporting requirements
