Morgan Stanley Research is seeking an experienced, deep thinking quantitative primary researcher to join its AlphaWise team. AlphaWise is a global, entrepreneurial team that works alongside Morgan Stanley’s world class equity research analysts to generate evidence based research spanning every industry sector around the world.

AlphaWise focuses on the collection and analysis of proprietary primary research to uncover insights, partners with research analysts to create compelling, differentiated opinions on stocks, sectors and investment debates to share with Research’s clients. The AlphaWise team is a small, close-knit team, where you will work with talented, motivated colleagues. It provides a supportive environment to learn and develop professionally through regular interaction and on the job training.

As a quantitative primary researcher within AlphaWise you will partner with research analysts to understand investment debates in their sectors and develop these initial ideas into coherent primary research:

Carry out custom primary research studies with implement the study from beginning (study design) to end (deep dive analysis of findings)

Present findings in a clear and concise way and collaborate with analysts to weave insights and implications into research reports

Identify other primary and secondary market research data and collaborate with counterparts to enhance studies and publications

Stay abreast of industry and macroeconomic trends impacting markets under coverage


Qualifications & Abilities

3+ years of professional experience in conducting quantitative primary research across industries, mediums (e.g,. online, telephone, in-person interviews), geographies (America, Europe, Asia) and business models (B2B, B2C)

Insatiable curiosity and self-starter mentality, able to work both independently and as part of a team

Strong client servicing and communication skills

Proven ability to integrate and synthesize research information from multiple sources, delivering value-added insights and recommendations

Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines

Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in Market Research, Marketing, Statistics, Economics, Business or a related field

Fluency in multiple languages is a plus
